The Chimp Sanctuary!

Next week we are going to a place called the Chimp Sanctuary. There are so many chimps. I don’t remember much about it but we went a very, very , very long time ago and I got see pictures. I still don’t remember after seeing pictures.

I have a six year old brother and he wasn’t even born when we went. So that tells you how long ago it was. We are going with our friends the Peet’s and we have known them since I was two. We are also going with people who have been on Mercy Ships since we arrived our very first time. They now have twin girls.

River Number Two

We arrived in Sierra Leone Freetown five weeks ago. This is one of the things that I like it is River number Two. It is where the river meets the ocean. I like it because you can swim in the calm river or the wavy ocean.

Free Town

Hello there again, we have arrived in Sierra Leone. It is amazing here!!! There are beaches that have white sand all along the cost and restaurants and all other things too.

There is a beautiful beach called Lakka Beach. I’ve been to Lakka beach twice. It has two dogs, one cat and surprisingly good food. The rice is extremely good, so is the fish; I’m not a very big fish eater, but it was so good! There is only 1 thing to be carful with here, which is the rip current. A rip current is when the water takes you out in deep ocean.

There is a team house here, and we went to see it. It had a great pool were we could swim. Tracy brought us here, so we could check it out. It was beautiful there; we stayed in the pool for almost all day. When the food came I didn’t really want to get out, until I saw the Rice Crispy Treats, then I got out immediately!

If you ever go to Sierra Leone go to Free Town!
See you later,
Fride

Things in Sierra Leone

We are in Sierra Leone. My family was here a few months earlier with our gateway because; we had to do our outreach.

I n Sierra Leone there is a beautiful beach called Lakka Beach. I like Lakka Beach because, the waters are warm and calm most of the time. There is also delicious food
There and many sellers that sell beautiful things such as carvings, shells, and woven sacks. That is why I like Lakka Beach.

In Sierra Leone there are many sellers who mostly sell food, cloths, or sometimes crafts, on the side of the road. I have tried many of the foods here and one of my favorites is what I call peanut butter cake .It is made up of groundnut, sugar, and other things. It is very sweet and sometimes spicy. That is why I like peanut butter cake.

In Sierra Leone there is an orphanage called Cheshire home. It is where kids with disabilities (mostly polio) live. I have made good friends with the girls there.Usualy we play card games and matching games. That is why I like the Cheshire.

Hope Center Hospital!

Yesterday we went to Hope center Hospital. It is actually a dental clinic. My dad works there. We got to go see it. We got to visit my dad’s patients. His patients came all the way From Liberia where we live. I will explain that in a sec. So they traveled about thirteen hours in a car.

Now I will tell you about Hope Center Hospital. Hope Center Hospital is the dental clinic Mercy Ships works at while there in Sierra Leone. It is huge and spacious .Which is nice. The place the main part is in is large.

Now I will explain why we are on Mercy Ships when Mercy Ships is in Sierra Leone and we live in Liberia. We used to work with Mercy Ships and then we moved to Liberia. My dad owns a dental clinic there and we are visiting Mercy Ships for three weeks. So I am just a fourth grader guest. I don’t actually go to school here.

         Bye for now.

3 Things I Did On My First Feild Serves In Sierra Leone

River number 2 The Nicest Place I’ve been to
When we went to River number 2 it was very fun because we went with the Koonts’s and I did gateway with them so our family knows them very well so being able to hang out with them was very nice. When we went Grace was playing with Xavier and the boys and I were trying to catch some fish. There were so many fish because it was meant to be a beach but when the boys went to the bathroom they saw a cute little river area. When we stayed there for a while we went for a walk to the beach part the men, my dad and peter, we had so much fun sliding down and climbing up the sand hills into the water, running away from waves and trying not to get swept away by the waves. So that’s why River number 2 was the nicest play I’ve been to.

The Craft Market the Funniest Place I’ve Been To

When we first got there it was the calmest place to be in Sierra Leone, but when you would point at something they would come running to you wanting you to try it on and, wanting you to buy it so basically for the hole time I pointed with my head if that makes sense? Well Peter and Grace wanted to buy something so when he would say 25,000 Leones they would say no no no to low to low it was the funniest thing I saw all that day. Peter would just walk off and when he was not looking the ladies would come up to us kids and pat us on the back and say we love you tell your dad to buy from us (in a angry voice) then finally they would give up and say ok you can have it for such and such price. So that was the funniest thing.

The swimming pool the funnest place in the world
I;m thankful for the pool on the ship and that the ship is not that rocky so they don’t close it because when its hot and there is nothing to do we can go swimming its easier then going all the way to town. When we go to the pool we all want it to be rocky because it is fun to swim faster and get wet even if you are out of the pool.

Sierra Lione

We have been in Sierra Lione for five weeks and I have done a lot of things. I shall tell you some of them. Want to hear them?

One of the things I have done is play Ultimate Frisbee which game you play in which                             you have to score in the other teams’ side and vice versa. This is how to play, you have two teams, one is whites and grays and occasionally the reds on one team and the mixed colours on another team. Then one team throws the Frisbee and then everyone has to try to get the frisbee into the other teams' side but you can’t run with the frisbee. The team that gets it in first wins that point. Then it goes on until the team that has the most points wins the whole game.

Well that is all I have to tell you .See you soon.

Freetown is Amazing!

We FINALLY made it to Sierra Leone. The sail was two weeks, but, to be honest, it wasn’t too bad. When we got here there was a small party for us on the dock. We got to dress up in fancy clothes. It is a really poor place, so we were very excited to get started!

One of the first things we did here was my parents and I went for a walk and ended up in a market. The market was selling a lot of fish, coffee beans, bread and candy. We bought bread and candy. Markets in Africa are very crowded and noisy. There were cars that came through the market and one of them nearly ran over my foot.

Anther thing that we did was go to a beach, Laka beach. It was beautiful. The ocean was lovely and the restaurants were amazing. The beaches in Sierra Leone are excellent.

We also went to the team house. The team house is a place were the advance team lives. The advance team is a team that goes to the place that we are going to go in advance to get the place ready for our arrival. It is a very nice place there. They have a pool, too. The pool is a nice size and shape. Right next to the pool was  a babies slide,  we put it on to the pool side and slid in!

I really like it here in Sierra Leone!

                                    By for now,
                                      Anna

Things I did in Freetown, Sierra Leone

    Freetown, Sierra Leone

We are in Freetown! We have been here for five weeks now. So fare it has been a perfect temperature to go swimming in the pool we have on board. I go swimming most of the afternoon on Saturdays’. It is really fun because I love swimming.
At two o clock I play settlers of Catan also every Saturday play with all the expansions and a made up expansion too. It is a board game and you have fifteen points to win the game. What you have to do is to build cities or settlements to make points and you make recourses to get the buildings. There is a lot more rules to the game but those are the basics. It is a very fun but hard game so I like it.
We had our first running club now that we are on the dock.  It was on a small bit of the dock so we ran two laps for one punch. I ran twenty three laps in it. It was really fun. We always have a warm up game to get us warmed up so we can run faster and not walk the whole time but I don’t always do that. That is what we do in running club.

                                     See you soon!
